Large AUTOSAR PDUs via CAN – Easy Handling With CANoe
CANoe Quick Tip
In modern vehicle networks, data volumes are growing rapidly. AUTOSAR PDUs (Protocol Data Units) define the logical data packets exchanged between software components and Electronic Control Units (ECUs). But what happens when a PDU exceeds what a single network frame can carry?
That’s where large AUTOSAR PDUs come into play. These are PDUs whose payload size exceeds the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of the underlying communication protocol, for example, more than 64 bytes on CAN FD.
What Can You Do With It? | What Problems Does It Solve?
Large AUTOSAR PDUs can be efficiently transmitted using a transport protocol. When the AUTOSAR XML (ARXML) defines a CAN-Transport-Protocol connection for the PDU, CANoe automatically manages the transmission based on the specified parameters. Each CAN-Transport-Protocol connection handles one transmission at a time, providing stable and transparent communication for complex test scenarios.
Where Can You Find This Function In CANoe? | How to Start the Process?
With CANoe, handling large AUTOSAR PDUs is effortless. All communication details are clearly visualized and analyzable in the Trace Window – for maximum transparency and efficiency during testing.
