Transmission integration at Mercedes-Benz Vans is the central interface between transmission development, model series, endurance testing and the after-sales area. The core task of transmission integration is to ensure that all transmission requirements are implemented, that the best possible driving characteristics are achieved, and that compliance with customer requirements in the various areas of application is consistently ensured and documented.Transmission integration takes on important tasks at an early stage of development. For example, the mechanical, electrical, NVH, environmental and installation-relevant requirements for the transmissions must be checked and evaluated. During endurance testing, transmission integration provides important information on the behavior and stress of the transmissions.
Manage endurance data and find anomalies
Due to the high number of test drives, the steadily increasing number of test vehicles and the different driving profiles, very large amounts of data are generated during endurance testing. The recorded measurement files must be managed efficiently. Test vehicles, equipment variants and tests performed must be identifiable and made available to the employees involved in development and endurance testing. In order to be able to react in a targeted manner to problems that have occurred, it must be possible to quickly identify the vehicles affected, including the driving situation, location and time at which the fault occurred, and to generate meaningful reports.
Adding value with vMDM
Measurement data management vMDM is Vector's server/ cloud solution for managing large amounts of data from development, test bench and driver testing. Integrated into the existing tool environment, vMDM promotes efficient data management. Per cellular or Wi-Fi, data is copied from loggers to the data lake. In pre-processing, vMDM recognizes the new measurement data, metadata is added, and this is stored depending on the series. Using configured templates and stored search queries, meaningful reports are created quickly and automatically. In addition, the measurement files are available to all engineers involved in the project worldwide for detailed analyses in the vMDM front-end tools CANape and vSignalyzer.
With the introduction of Vector Measurement Data Management vMDM, the data management process in transmission integration has been optimized.
