- Controlled, reproducible excitation of your System Under Test (SUT)
The SUT is transferred to a desired target state. This is usually done under defined operating parameters. Starting with the switching on of the power supply, up to complex sequences for the transfer into a target state, many sequence variants are possible.
- Various test scenarios for your analyses
The SUT is confronted with disturbance variables in the idle state or during operation. These can be, for example, extreme values in signals, unexpected signal jumps or invalid signal ranges. Does your SUT still react according to the specification in these stress situations and prevent critical states?
- Determine optimal control parameters
When a stimulus is applied, the step response of the SUT is recorded. You use this step response to determine the controlled system in more detail. This means that a comparison with the theoretically determined control parameters is possible. The control parameters can now be optimized.
Stimulation can be done via:
- the communication network by signals (1).
- the I/Os of the SUT. These I/Os can be stimulated via real actuators/sensors or equivalent loads (2).
Therefore, know-how about the type of stimulation and its definition is necessary. Generators and/or scripts can be used to generate the desired stimuli. Analysis is performed with the CANalyzer analysis functions.
If the SUT is already integrated in a real or simulated environment, stimulation can extend existing test and analysis measures.
Creating a Stimulation
With a communication description and a suitable network interface connection, the desired stimuli are applied to the SUT via the selected communication channel. Flexible adaptations to existing needs are possible, such as external control of CANalyzer.
Typically, the stimulation sequence is controlled with the user interfaces or function blocks created in CANalyzer. At any time, data can be manually redefined as needed and integrated into CANalyzer stimulation.
The execution of a stimulation and its analysis is supported by the following methods:
- Predefined programming interface for easy creation of command sequences by the Visual Sequencer or recording of a macro
- Signal Generators for creating signal sequences with manual or periodic execution
- Signal Replay for playing back a recorded signal waveform
