Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) adds real-time requirements to standard Ethernet communication. These are used to transmit messages with high availability in deterministic cycles. Typical use-cases are ADAS or chassis applications. Determinism is realized by scheduling. A special hardware extension, the so-called Time Aware Shaper, is used in the switches for this purpose.
The switch drivers of the current version of MICROSAR - Vector's AUTOSAR basic software - support the configuration and control of the Time Aware Shaper according to the IEEE 802.1 Qbv standard. This allows deterministic Ethernet applications to send their data with guaranteed latency using configurable hardware scheduling.
