Functional Safety and SOTIF - Principles and Practice

The ISO 26262 standard for functional safety for road vehicles has fast achieved a lead role but leaves plenty of room for interpretation. In addition, the new standard SOTIF (Safety Of The Intended Functionality) ISO/PAS 21448 now goes beyond dealing with potential hazards caused by malfunctioning behavior of E/E systems. It covers hazardous behaviors in absence of faults caused by technological limitations and includes evaluation of foreseeable misuse.
