Ethernet has established itself as a vehicle-internal communications network and covers a wide range of use cases. This includes, for example, the implementation of a vehicle backbone as well as application areas in the ADAS and infotainment domains. Many different protocols are used to meet all corresponding communication requirements. The range spans from classical signal and PDU-based data exchange, over service-oriented communication via SOME/IP, vehicle diagnostics via DoIP to time synchronization and audio/video streaming.
