Since the year 2000 Vector has been continually extending its LIN tool chain. It supports the LIN specifications ISO 17987:2016, 2.0 - 2.2(A), 1.3 and the SAE-standard J2602. The portfolio ranges from design, analysis, testing, diagnostics and flashing to network interfaces, embedded software and small series ECUs.

Design

The Vector LIN toolchain helps to simplify the design, implementation and test of todays LIN networks. Current LIN networks and ECUs are designed based on an LDF database. For LIN Master nodes, also an AUTOSAR workflow is available.

PREEvision

PREEvision supports the design of LIN networks and clusters including the corresponding communication. The model-based engineering environment also enables service-oriented architectures for embedded software systems.

DaVinci Developer

Analysis and Testing

LIN is a single wire system. The protocol does not provide dedicated error notification mechanisms. Therefore analysis and test tools are required that allow to perfectly safeguard a LIN network or ECU. Vector's LIN tool chain convinces with analysis functions that allow to recognize and interpret easily any LIN protocol error and provides test functions to stimulate any kind of LIN errors.

CANalyzer.LIN

CANalyzer is the comprehensive software tool with intuitive operation for analysis and stimulation of network communication. It is used to check whether and what type of communication is occurring on the network. It can also be used to send or log data.  The Option .LIN is used to  monitor network states and protocol errors and to interpret them in a simple way. The LIN communication can be logged in different file formats to perform offline analysis.

CANoe is the comprehensive software tool for development, test and analysis of individual ECUs and entire ECU networks. It supports network designers, development and test engineers at OEMs and suppliers throughout the entire development process – from planning to system-level test. The Option .LIN provides simulation of a LIN Master or LIN Slave node including LIN network management and can be easily configured by just using an LDF file. The integrated LIN Slave Conformance Tester generates tests for ISO 17987:2016, 2.0 - 2.2(A), 1.3 and J2602.

Hardware
VN1600 Family

The VN1600 interface family provides a flexible and fast access to LIN and CAN (FD) networks. The VN1611 offer 2 channels, minimum size and weight.

Up to 4 channels, IO support and LIN Slave Conformance Tests are handled by the VN1630A/VN1640A. Furthermore the VN1630 log provides additional recording functionality.

VN7572

The VN7572 offers versatile channel combinations for network connections to LIN, FlexRay, CAN FD and K-Line via PCIe. This makes it an ideal interface for the laboratory or developer workstation.

VN8900 Family

The VN8900 network interface is a modular designed interface hardware with various possible channel combinations for LIN, CAN FD, FlexRay, J1708 and K-Line. A particular focus here is on parallel access to multiple network channels and I/Os with high requirements on real-time and latencies also in standalone operating mode.

VT System

CANoe offers a built-in LIN Slave Conformance Test. With the LIN Slave Conformance Test Module, you can directly integrate conformance tests into your own test configurations. This special test module provides the official LIN Slave Conformance Tests (OSI-layers 2 and 3) for ISO 17987:2016, LIN 2.2(A)/2.1, LIN 2.0, LIN 1.3 and J2602.

To simplify the test execution, you can easily automate it by using the Vector test hardware VH1160. The tests are performed as black box tests and are easy to configure in only 5 steps.

CANoe.Scopeincluding Vector Pico Scope and Scope Bus Probe

CANoe.Scope is an integrated oscilloscope solution achieved by combining a powerful 2 or 4 channel USB scope hardware with a standard Vector network interface. The USB scope device is hardware synchronized with the network interfaces, so that all scope measurements have the same time base as CANoe.
With the option Scope you can enhance analysis capabilities of the LIN Slave Conformance Tests. If a test case fails, scope screenshots are automatically inserted into the test report.

VN1600 Family

The VN1600 interface family provides a flexible and fast access to LIN and CAN (FD) networks. The VN1630A/VN1640A offer up to 4 channels, IO support and LIN Slave Conformance Tests.

VH1160

The VH1160 is a compact hardware device and optionally available for automating the LIN Slave Conformance Tests. It is controlled by the LIN Slave Conformance Test Module in CANoe. It is responsible for performing hardware resets and for detecting the sleep and wake-up state by measuring the ECU current consumption.

The LIN Master Conformance Tests according to ISO 17987:2016 and LIN 2.x are not implemented in CANoe.LIN because they are rarely performed. The reason is that you have to exchange the application with a specific test application which allows to perform the tests. Therefore, the LIN Master protocol functionality is checked during testing the application.

To ensure correct operation of LIN Master ECUs, CANoe offers a number of possibilities to assemble a monitoring LIN Master test. E.g. header times, baud rates or schedule tables can be monitored. An example configuration included in CANoe shows you how to set up an observing LIN Master test.

CANoe.LIN

Using the Diagnostic Feature Set contained in CANoe, you can analyze diagnostic communication in accordance with the UDS standard. CANoe may be used both as a diagnostic tester and to simulate ECU diagnostics; it is parameterized via ODX or CANdelaStudio description files. In addition a complete OBD-II Tester is integrated in CANoe.

CANalyzer.LIN

Using the Diagnostic Feature Set contained in CANalyzer, you can analyze diagnostic communication in accordance with the UDS standard. CANalyzer can be used as the diagnostic tester for ECU diagnostics. Parameterization is done via ODX or CANdelaStudio description files. In addition, a complete OBD-II Tester is already integrated in CANalyzer.

CANoe.DiVa

DiVa is an extension of CANoe for automated testing of diagnostic software implementations in ECUs. Test cases are generated based on a diagnostic description.

Indigo

Indigo is an easy to use diagnostic tester, which is largely self-configurable and masks the complexity of the diagnostic protocols. It offers a quick overview of the vehicle status and permits detailed diagnostics of individual ECUs.

vFlash

vFlash is a very easy-to-use tool for programming ECUs. It supports already more than 70 different flash specifications and is simply expandable via a plugin concept.

VN1600 Family

The VN1600 interface family provides a flexible and fast access to LIN and CAN (FD) networks. The VN1611 offer 2 channels, minimum size and weight. Up to 4 channels, IO support and LIN Slave Conformance Tests are handled by the VN1630A/VN1640A. Furthermore the VN1630 log provides additional recording functionality.

VN7572

The VN7572 offers versatile channel combinations for network connections to LIN, FlexRay, CAN FD and K-Line via PCIe. This makes it an ideal interface for the laboratory or developer workstation.

VN8810

The VN8810 is a compact and intelligent standalone diagnostic hardware device. Accessing the vehicle is easily done via the OBD socket. Once flash packages or scripts have been transmitted to the VN8810, it executes them autonomously in standalone mode or optionally controlled via a smartphone or tablet. In addition, the VN8810 serves as the access point for remote diagnostics.

CANbedded.LIN handles communication tasks for a LIN Master such as routing of diagnostic requests to LIN Slaves and precise switchover of schedule tables in diagnostic requests and responses.
For LIN Slaves diagnostic requests are assembled by the LIN Transport Protocol (cooked) and forwarded to the diagnostic application.

MICROSAR.LIN

MICROSAR.LIN handles communication tasks for a LIN Master such as routing of diagnostic requests to LIN Slaves and precise switchover of schedule tables in diagnostic requests and responses.

Flash Bootloader

The Flash Bootloader is a universal and compact solution for reprogramming ECUs quickly, efficiently and securely. You can obtain the Flash Bootloader in many OEM-specific variants and for many different microcontrollers.

CAPL-on-Board with VN1630A and VN1640A

This special run mode for CAPL network nodes enables time- and performance-critical simulation models to be run directly "on-board" on the network interface.

The VN8900 and VT6000 real-time systems consist of these 2 components:

  • For execution of test scripts


Benefits:

  • User interface and simulation part are isolated from each other. For this reason other PC tasks, such as compiling, virus checking, Outlook, etc., do not adversely affect the network simulation and measurement.
  • System configurations can be easily scaled based on user-defined requirements, e.g. monitoring, soft real-time simulation, real-time simulation.
  • The same model can be run both in a real-time environment and in a conventional environment.
  • The model can be run in the real-time environment with higher accuracy and lower jitter and is thus more deterministic.
  • The workflow is the same as the standard CANoe workflow.

GL Logger Family

The GL Loggers are special automotive data recorders which can be used in test vehicles or on test benches. They record measurement values and acquire the data communications of CAN, LIN and FlexRay network systems.

Beside bus communication you can store in addition internal ECU parameters via CCP/XCP and diagnostics as well as measured values of digital and analog inputs in a time-synchronous manner.

The VH1160 is a compact hardware device and optionally available for automating the LIN Slave Conformance Tests. It is controlled by the LIN Slave Conformance Test Module in CANoe. It is responsible for performing hardware resets and for detecting the sleep and wakeup state by measuring the ECU current consumption.

MICROSAR.LIN - AUTOSAR Basic Software Modules for LIN Communication

MICROSAR.LIN is part of MICROSAR – the embedded software for your AUTOSAR ECUs. It is available for LIN Master ECUs.

MICROSAR.LIN contains the BSW modules defined in the AUTOSAR architecture for LIN communication: LINIF, LINTP, LINSM and LINNM. According to AUTOSAR, LINTP is a part of LINIF. The module LINTP is offered as an option, because not every LIN communication stack requires a transport protocol. The software is available for functional safety requirements up to ASIL D. XCP for the MICROSAR.LIN Master is also available as an ASAM extension.

CANbedded LIN – OEM-Specific Embedded Software Components

CANbedded LIN Communication is the LIN communication stack and consists of standardized software components for LIN Master and LIN Slave ECUs. They support the LIN specifications ISO 17987:2016, 2.0 - 2.2(A), 1.3 and J2602. The components are optimized for code size and execution time to reduce their resource requirements. For LIN Slave nodes, the software is available for functional safety requirements of ASIL A and ASIL B.

CANbedded LIN Communication has already been in existence for more than 15 years now and has proven itself in some 100 projects. Over 50 combinations of hardware and compilers are supported, and upon request additional combinations will be available.

CANoe/CANalyzer.LIN

Learn the theoretical fundamentals of the LIN network, as well as handling of CANoe.LIN and CANalyzer.LIN by extensive exercises with real hardware. You become familiar with analyzing, simulationg, disturbing and testing LIN networks. Furthermore, the LIN Slave Conformance Test that is integrated in the tool is presented.

E-Learning for LIN

This E-Learning module is intended for all those who wish to gain a better understanding of LIN communication technology.

It is also ideal for those planning to participate in the LIN workshop of the VectorAcademy. It lets you learn about the basic properties of data communication in a LIN network in advance of the workshop. This not only simplifies your entry into the workshop.
