Two Switch Specialists. One Software Stack.
MICROSAR Switch now runs on the Broadcom Scorpio 3 Family.

Vector and Broadcom bring MICROSAR Switch to Broadcom’s automotive Ethernet switch devices. The result is a unified software stack that enables the integration of Scorpio 3 hardware using proven MICROSAR Switch workflows and tools.
Configure
Broadcom’s switch SDK and MCAL are integrated into the MICROSAR Switch stack. Configure and operate Scorpio 3 devices within the same environment and processes used across your existing projects.
Operate
The switch integrates into in-vehicle networks and provides hardware-supported functionality such as runtime VLAN control, per-port statistics, and ingress and egress timestamping for PTP. Application software remains focused on its intended tasks instead of handling switch-specific functions.
Reuse
Scorpio 3 extends the set of supported Ethernet switch devices within the Vector ecosystem. Existing architectures, tooling, and engineering know-how can be reused across hardware variants and future projects, reducing integration effort and simplifying platform evolution.
Current Evaluation Bundle Scope
Vector and Broadcom currently co-develop an evaluation bundle for the BCM89586M, BCM89587M and BCM89581M devices, including:
- Basic switching with static ARL configuration
- Runtime VLAN control
- Per-port statistics counters
- Frame management via the in-band Broadcom header
- Ingress and egress timestamping for PTP
