New Reporting Standard at Vector: Resource Conservation Becomes Measurable and Comparable.
Last year Vector published the "Corporate Carbon Footprint 2019" report. It includes a new reporting system that converts all consumer goods into CO₂ equivalents using a standardized procedure. The consistent conservation of resources, which Vector has been practicing since its foundation over 30 years ago, is thus to be made comparable for all Vector locations worldwide in the future.
From the solar system on ecologically sustainable buildings to the use of geothermal energy, green electricity in the data centers, regional food in catering and the subsidized use of public transportation - Vector does all of this with deep conviction for its employees and the environment. With the reporting system, which will be used for the first time in 2019, the CO2 balance can be calculated and presented for each individual employee. According to this, the CO2 emissions per Vectorian are just 0.1 tons per year.
The modern and sustainable Vector buildings make a significant contribution to resource conservation. For decades, the company has invested above average in the building infrastructure and plans down to the smallest detail to meet its own high standards. The latest benchmark for this is the Vector building in Holderäckerstraße in Stuttgart. This building has received two awards from the German Sustainable Building Council. When constructing new buildings, the greatest CO2 reduction is achieved through Vector's environmental management. In order to avoid emissions completely, geothermal heating or cooling is used in the buildings, as well as green electricity for all e-cars in the vehicle fleet and in the data centers. Vector achieves a quota of almost 100% in the conversion to green electricity and biogas through its purchasing policy for non-self-generated energy.
The new quantitative reporting system is designed to present and track the targeted conservation of resources more systematically. In 2019 the key figures of the headquarters in Stuttgart were started, in 2020 the data from all Vector buildings in Germany (Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Regensburg) will be analyzed and processed, and from 2021 the data from all Vector locations worldwide - rental space as well as own buildings - will flow into a reporting.
