VectorCAST: Which Techniques are Suitable for Testing Legacy Embedded Code?
Legacy code (developed years ago) causes significant challenges for many development departments. Often the source code was not written well, the people who wrote it are no longer part of the team, and there is a lack of documentation and test cases. Technological Debt has often accumulated over many years.
Many development teams are reluctant to change existing legacy code because the consequences of change are unpredictable. A change can have undesirable side effects and annoy customers. There is also the question of where to start, how much time is required, and what the cost will be. Evaluating existing legacy code and testing it is still possible and therefore allows refactoring to be done with much more confidence.
This webinar will show what techniques can be practically applied to analyze, evaluate, and modify legacy code to make it testable and maintainable again.
