2011-06-13: Vector Consulting Roadshow and Congress in USA: Safety, Lean/Agile, PLM/ALM (USA, 3.-6. Oct. 2011)

Roadshow in USA

Vector will show its consulting solutions and experiences in the USA. We will present at different events during the timeframe of 03.-06. October in Detroit and New York. Topics will cover efficiency, functional safety, ALM/PLM and engineering methods and tools. The mode will be a "Roadshow" with visits to companies and open presentations to discuss needs, solutions and our own benchmarks. This Roadshow is for free and sponsored by Vector America.

A highlight will be our presentation on functional safety experiences at the Vector America Congress on 05. October. With the increasing complexity of automotive systems and the related increasing use of software in them, new approaches are needed to ensure safety. Failures are increasingly due to design errors and to dysfunctional interactions among components rather than component failure. Due to the wide range of potential impacts, safety must be engineered and built into the design from the beginning. It is not possible to effectively add safety devices onto a finished design. This presentation provides an overview on the current introduction of ISO 26262 to the automotive industry and highlights our experiences in changing engineering processes towards requirements of this standard. We will look to systems engineering, life-cycle processes, and safety culture as the three prerequisites to successfully and sustainably implementing functional safety.
