Diverse Tool Support of the MDF Format

The Vector tools CANape, CANgraph and CANdito support the MDF format by:

  • Recording measurement data *
  • Evaluating measurement data
  • Converting measurement data
  • Combining and extracting measurement data

* CANgraph supports the signal-oriented, offline evaluation of measurement data, but not recording measurement datan

Additional support via:

  • MDF4 Lib is a powerful functional library with which you can sort MDF files and read them into your own applications. Along with the widely used MDF3 format, the new ASAM MDF4 standard is also supported.
  • The analysis and testing tools CANoe and CANalyzer support the export of measurement data into the MDF format.
  • The configuration software of the data loggers GL1000/GL3000/GL4000, CANcaseXL log, CANlog and Multilog converts log files into MDF.

If you would like to implement MDF into your own software, get the free tool MDF Validator from Vector. You can use this tool to check whether a MDF file (up to Version 4.0) conforms to specification to the extent that it can be read in by Vector tools. The other freeware, MDF ShellExtension, lets you extend your Windows Explorer to include measurement data specific information, e.g. MDF project, MDF name, etc.
