Typically, several bus systems are used in vehicles for communication between ECUs. Multiple CAN buses as well as LIN, FlexRay and MOST buses are installed. Some ECUs serve as gateways between these buses and handle the routing of:
- Messages
- Signals
- Transport protocol data (e.g. for diagnostics)
Vector offers you standard software components for implementing gateway functionality in your ECU.
- In AUTOSAR, two Basic Software Modules (COM and PDUR) are needed for this, and both are included in the MICROSAR COM bundle. The modules in this bundle are bus-system and hardware independent, and so they can be used for any combination of CAN, LIN and FlexRay gateways. Ethernet as defined in AUTOSAR 4.0 will also be supported; this is expected to start in Q4/2009. Vector offers you an AUTOSAR supplement to support MOST ECUs. This extension allows you to connect a MOST ring with a CAN, LIN, FlexRay or Ethernet network within an AUTOSAR ECU.
- For conventional technology – based on CANbedded – both a CAN-CAN gateway and a CAN-LIN gateway are available. These software components are hardware-independent and are layered over communication drivers that implement the special properties of the controllers and bus systems.
All of the gateways mentioned are available for a number of OEMs. The tool-supported configuration lets you optimally adapt the gateway to the requirements of your application.
