This Workshop will provide you with comprehensive basic knowledge of the J1939 protocol. The first module will focus on the correct usage of the SAE-J1939 documents, introduce protocol-specific expressions and properties and explain the general philosophy of CAN based layer-7-protocols. The second module teaches you - by means of practical examples - how to use the analysis and simulation tool CANoe/CANalyzer in J1939 based networks. Main aspects are the simulation of ECUs and testing conformity to the standard. The emphasis is on introducing and utilizing expanded functions of CANoe/CANalyzer.J1939 (e.g. J1939 Scanner, CAPL Generator, Node Filter, etc.).
Duration: 1 Day
Target Group: Users and Developers
Prerequisites: Fundamentals of CAN Protocol
Content:
Duration: 1 Day
Target Group: Users and Developers
Prerequisites: Knowledge about J1939 fundamentals, knowledge about CANoe would be beneficial
Content:
This Workshop builds on the J1939 Workshop and provides you with solid basic knowledge of ISO11783 (ISOBUS) systems. In the first module not only pure communication aspects are addressed, but also the most important device profiles are presented such as: Tractor ECU, Virtual Terminal, Task Controller, etc. The second module teaches you - by means of practical examples - the extended functionality of CANoe.J1939 and CANoe.ISO11783. Additionally you will get an overview of typical ISO11783 application cases that can be realized with CANoe. Knowledge acquired here will give you a solid foundation for making your own decisions relating to system design and component implementation.

This workshop consists of three modules. Module 1provides an introduction to the SAE J1939 protocol. The class starts with a brief overview of ISO 11898 (CAN ) in preparation for the J1939 topics. These topics include J1939 Application Layers, Dynamic Network Management, Diagnostics J1939 Physical and Data Link Layer.
The second module introduces CANalyzer from a SAE J1939 perspective. Attendees will acquire knowledge and hands-on experience to help them analyze and log J1939 network message traffic using CANalyzer. The module covers the operation of CANalyzer including database (dbc) file modification, bus analysis, logging, and a brief introduction to Vector's Communication Access Programming Language (CAPL). It also covers the J1939-specific components for CANalyzer.
The third module introduces CANoe with the J1939 Option. Attendees will acquire knowledge and hands-on experience to help develop J1939 CAN projects using CANoe. Topics include understanding basic CANoe components, designing CAN messages and data, developing a CANoe panel, programming in Vector's Communication Access Programming Language (CAPL) and example J1939 CANoe applications.
Duration: 1 Day
Prerequisites: A basic understanding of the CAN protocol (Vector’s CAN Protocol class) is helpful but not required. Some previous experience with CANalyzer, CANoe or another CAN analysis tool is also helpful.
