CANoe 7.2 Application Areas

CANoe offers you special functions for all phases of the development cycle of distributed systems and its electronic control units (ECUs):

Design
CANoe optimally supports the design of complete systems or individual ECUs.
Simulation
With CANoe you can conveniently simulate single ECUs or the complete network. The simulation can be generated manually or automatically from the underlying communication data base. Within the development process it can also be used as remaining bus simulation for individual ECUs.
Via OEM-specific extensions the CANoe simulation can be adjusted to the requirements of the respective OEM.
Analysis
The CANoe user can test and analyse the multi-bus communication of ECUs and complete systems at the development work place, during the system integration as well as in the vehicle.
By using hardware data logger during test drives, the logged bus traffic can be evaluated with all CANoe functions at a later date.
Testing
CANoe supports testing of ECUs and networks with the special functions of the Test Feature Set. CANoe is the ideal test environment as well for the complete system as for efficient ECU testing, modules testing, and integration tests.
The VT System extends your CANoe test application by adding the ability to stimulate and measure analog and digital ECU I/Os. This lets you access all inputs and outputs of ECUs in test sequences, so your access is not just limited to the bus interface.
In addition, you can use CANoe Option XCP to access an ECU’s memory. This lets you read and write internal ECU parameters via XCP and CCP, e.g. in test sequences.
CANoe enables integration of CANstress and FRstress in test modules. This lets you generate protocol errors and disturb the bus physics on a CAN or FlexRay bus reproducibly.
Diagnostics
The Diagnostic Feature Set included with CANoe supports you in analyzing diagnostic communication per the KWP2000 and UDS standards. CANoe may be used both as a diagnostic tester and to simulate ECU diagnostics; it is parameterized via ODX or CANdelaStudio description files. A complete OBD II tester is also integrated in CANoe.
CANoe Option DiVa makes it easy for you to generate complete diagnostic integration tests from a description file.

The system can be expanded in a number of ways using integrated hardware and software interfaces. There are numerous evaluation options for analysing the total system and individual ECUs.
