Interfaces and Hardware Tools for CAN
Interfaces
Software tools used to develop, simulate, test and maintain distributed systems require powerful and flexible hardware interfaces and logging solutions.
Vector offers you interfaces for CAN, LIN, J1708, FlexRay, MOST as well as driver software and programming interfaces for use with Vector software tools and in customer-specific solutions.

CAN, LIN and J1708: High-performance hardware interfaces offer the ideal solution for tasks in developing, simulating and testing CAN, LIN and J1708 networks. At the same time, they offer ideal interfacing to notebook, desktop and industrial PCs.
More highlights and advantages ...
- Higher data throughput (up to 80,000 messages per second)
- Precise time stamps
- Highly flexible with large selection of interchangeable bus transceivers
- Message preprocessing on the card reduces PC loading
- No data losses, even with 1 Mbit burst loading
- FPGA update possible
- Time synchronization with other Vector interfaces is possible via external connection (party line)
- ExpressCard interface CANcardXLe and TWINcabs make up to 4 channels available
- The VN8900 interface is a high-performance real-time platform when used in combination with the CANoe or CANalyzer tool. Its many uses range from MiniHIL applications to system simulations with Simulink, rest-of-bus simulations as well as gateway implementations and test runs.
Special CAN functions:
- Detect and generate error frames
- Precisely measure bus load
- Listen on the CAN bus without affecting it (Silent Mode)
- Send and receive data and remote frames
Special LIN functions:
- Conformity tests per LIN2.1 specification (CANcardXLe)
- Detect and generate sending errors, synchronization errors, checksum errors and other protocol violations
- Listen on the LIN bus without affecting it
- Send and receive headers and entire messages
- Measure baudrate in header and response
- Measure frame length
- Detect the checksum model
- Disturb the header and slave response

CAN and FlexRay: FlexRay, the bus system for high data rates in the vehicle, places very high demands on hardware interfaces. Our interfaces for FlexRay networks ideally support the tasks of developing, simulating and testing FlexRay networks as well as measuring and calibrating them.
More highlights and advantages ...
- Detailed analysis of the FlexRay communication by an FPGA-based communication controller
- Extensive networks can be simulated thanks to 2MB TX memory (simultaneous configuration of over 1000 TX messages)*
- Cold start of the FlexRay cluster without additional network nodes
- Analysis of network startup by independent monitoring unit
- 2 FlexRay channels (Channel A and B)
- Updating to latest FlexRay specification by FPGA update
- Port for external time synchronization
Special CAN functions of the VN7600:
- Detect and generate error frames
- Precisely measure bus load
- Listen on the CAN bus without affecting it (silent mode)
- Send and receive data and remote frames
